Description: Oral interview with John Eaton, born 1920, in Los Angeles, California. John Eaton is the son of Fred Eaton, who was principal superintendent of the Los Angeles City Water Company,and later served as Mayor for the City of Los Angeles, from 1898--1900. He worked closely with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's Chief Engineer William Mulholland to create and develop the Los Angeles Aqueduct, completed in 1913. Stories included relate to the relationship between William Mulholland and Fred Eaton, the Rickey and Eaton Ranches in the Eastern Sierra, the Mono Basin project and the City of Los Angeles and Owens Valley water controversy, Old Mammoth Lakes, and the history of skiing on the eastern side of the Sierras.
